My dog throws up bile and falls down after wards?

About once a month or maybe more my 10 year old Jack Russel throws up bile. Sometimes when I witness it he falls down after wards and staggers to get back up. (Not sure if it tires him out) I am going to take him to the vet soon for his yearly check up. But I am worried it could be something serious.
