Tough situation with someone i like.. help?

ok so im in choir we met 2 yrs ago but really started talking to each other this year when i had to waltz with someone for my solo. weve hung out the rest of the year and it's been cool and i started to like him and i was sure he liked me in my yearbook he wrote: "it's only been two years ive known you but you really are the only special girl left in the school, your like a diamond rare to find but beautiful" i couldnt top that when i wrote in his year book i wrote that i hoped i had him for cles next year and that he had a nice summer. after that he stopped walking me to cl, he didnt tease me like he usually did, and he didnt hug me when we said bye anymore.. my question is what did i do wrong???
