Trying to do a survey of people in a client's target demographic. How big does the sample need to be?

Interestingly, the size of the total population does not affect how accurate a result you can expect from a given sample size. Instead, the margin of error for a survey depends only on the sample size and the variability of the population. In general, 100 surveys is a good minimum. So your results will probably be statistically representative.
