Why does the Military use Depleted Uranium?

Because it is an excellent material for use in anti-armor munitions that require kinetic energy to the target - typically a main battle tank. DU offers better than the next best choice - tungsten - and WAAAAYYYYYY better against heavy armor than hardened steel. DU doesn't have any other use.
